Treat yourself to an evening of Sacramento's best cakes and desserts!

News10's Cristina Mendonsa will host an old-fashioned cake walk as some of the finest bakers in the city will have their cakes on display and up for bidding!

Celebrities such as Danny Glover, Judge Judy's bailiff Petry Byrd and News10's host of Sac & Co Mellisa Paul, have donated their time as 'cake walkers' who will be circling the cake walk chairs, hoping to land in the winning seats! Music from the Christian Brothers and Rio American Jazz bands will be sure to keep a spring in their step! Plus, local celebrities are expected to join in on the fun!

The Great Cake Walk is Closing the Gap's annual fundraiser, this year benefiting the Parent Teacher Home Visit Project and the Sacramento Police Foundation. Together, the programs target more than 9-hundred students in the Sacramento area.

Closing the Gap is an all volunteer non-profit that identifies, evaluates, and then funds programs focused on eliminating the achievement gap. Two out of three students graduating from Sacramento area high schools cannot apply to college, no less gain admission, because they haven't completed the basic required classes. That means of the 5,000 graduates coming out of Sacramento high schools each year, less than 1,700 are eligible to submit a college application.
