SACRAMENTO - The City of Sacramento's Animal Control Department is seeking the public's assistance in locating the person or persons behind the hanging of a cat in the Sacramento area.

According to Gina Knepp of the City of Sacramento, animal control officers responded to a call of a cat found hanging by a rope from a tree in the area of Gardendale Rd. and 29th St. around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Witnesses said the cat was a stray being cared for by someone who recently moved from the area.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact Chief Animal Control Officer Daniel Torres at 916-808-5855.
